Theresa Clark, AMFT
(she/her)
Welcome! I am so glad you are here. Starting one’s therapeutic journey takes courage, whether it’s just you or you and those closest to you. Embarking on this new path can bring up a lot of mixed emotions such as nervousness, fear, and hope. It is important to me that we develop a solid foundation together. One of trust, empathy, respect, and genuineness that will foster both growth and healing.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Theresa and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I am currently in the process of gaining full licensure. I have obtained my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. During my time there, I gained experience working with individuals of all ages, couples, and some family systems.
My approach is rooted in Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST) where I often draw from a wide range of models. That being said, I find myself gravitating towards Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Structural Therapy.
I believe there is not a one size fits all approach to therapy. Rather than trying to fit you into a specific model, I will look to tailor the field to you and your particular needs. I believe the client is the expert on their own life and I encourage clients to participate in their healing journey to better understand barriers and utilize already existing strengths. Together we can create a space where authenticity, curiosity and challenge is encouraged.
If you feel we are a good fit, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. I look forward to embarking on this journey together.
