George Schorse, ALMFT

(they/them)

I believe in the power of storytelling. The stories you carry—about who you are, where you come from, and who you’re becoming—matter deeply. You are the expert and author of your own life. In therapy, I offer a space where those stories can be explored, challenged, and reimagined. I see therapy as a relationship: one rooted in trust, collaboration, and mutual curiosity. Together, we’ll discover a process that empowers your voice and centers your authentic growth.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, with a special focus on those navigating life transitions, communication dynamics, and identity exploration. I’m especially passionate about supporting folks from marginalized communities by exploring and challenging the internal and external narratives that may stand in the way of living, and writing, the story that feels most true to them.

My approach is grounded in Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST), and I draw from a range of modalities—including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. Rather than fitting you into a specific model, I collaborate with you to co-create a therapeutic experience that reflects your unique needs and values. I am an avid and life long learner—constantly integrating new insights from colleagues, clients, and research alike, to continue to fine tune my practice to better support my clients. You want to use Tarot in session? I will learn everything I need to know about how to use Tarot with you in session. Promise!

I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s in Developmental Psychology from the University of Minnesota, in pursuit of my LMFT in the state of Illinois. As a lifelong Midwesterner, I bring warmth, humility, and a strong sense of community care to the therapy space. Though I will call a water fountain a “bubbler.”

Before becoming a therapist, I was a competitive figure skater and now remain a lifelong creative. That background continues to shape how I engage—with movement, curiosity, and a deep respect for the many ways people make meaning. You are already on the path towards the change you wish to see and I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.
