Gabe Seldess, LMFT
As a Marriage and Family Therapist I take a systemic approach to exploring individual and relational problems. As with my colleagues at NCRC, I believe that our current success and struggles have roots in our prior experiences, and are maintained by current cultural, philosophical, and relational patterns. Through counseling, I assist people in exploring goals and personal values, and identifying skills and tools useful for navigating our lives and achieving deeper, more meaningful relationships with ourselves and others
Since graduating from the Family Institute at Northwestern University in 2003, I have worked with children, teens and adults coping with Depression, Anxiety, anger and mood management, stress management, family illness or violence, and relational problems. I have extensive experience with couples and families, assisting in enhancing communication, parenting skills, and trust. I have experience working with men and teens on relationship building, communication, and awareness of how cultural and family pressures and expectations can impact our lives. I tend to use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and other communication building tactics. Born and raised in the Chicago area, I have also lived in New York City and much less populated areas of North Carolina. I am LGBTQIA affirming.
I am currently In Network for most BCBS of IL PPOs, Aetna PPOs, Magellan, and United Healthcare (Optum). I am on the Medicaid BHC team, seeing clients across IL through telehealth and in-person in our Ravenswood office.
